Callie Pruett Schwaber
Callie is a seasoned advocate, writer, and political strategist.
An advocate of rural America, she was most recently the cohost of the global top 1% podcast, Appodlachia, and the executive director of Appalachians for Appalachia - an independent, research-focused policy and civic engagement nonprofit serving Central Appalachia.
Proud of her deep commitment to public engagement in science and science communication, Callie is the former senior advocacy strategist and a former registered federal lobbyist for the American Physical Society (APS) - the largest professional organization and academic journal for physicists in the US that has published the last twelve years of Nobel Prize-winning articles in physics.
She is the former lead strategist and manager of the Physicists Coalition for Nuclear Threat Reduction in partnership with Princeton University and the Carnegie Corporation.
Earlier in her career, Callie was a campaign professional, from local races to the highest levels of congressional and gubernatorial campaigns throughout the South, including on Emily’s List-endorsed races and DCCC top-tier races.
Callie has a BS in sociology from Appalachian State University, and her graduate work was in human rights at Southern Methodist University.
